John "Jay" Gonda, age 63 passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Sept. 4th 2024 AT Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet, IL.
Jay was born March 13th 1961 to the late Peter S. and Elizabeth J (Thill) Gonda in Joliet IL. Jay attended public schools, graduating from Minooka High. Jay was a dedicated member of the Operators Local 150 retiring from Austin Tyler Construction. Jay was a big NASCAR fan, and enjoyed a Harley ride and hanging in the garage fixing small engines.
Survived by his Loving wife of 19 years Susie (Paterson) Gonda, daughter Samantha (Timothy) Woodcock son Jacob (Brianne) Gonda; grandchildren: Troy, Colton, McKenna and Kasci Woodcock. Peyton and Logan Gonda, Brothers: Michael (Linda) Gonda, Patrick (Peggy) Gonda, Peter Gonda and a sister Suzanne Gonda. Sister-in-law Sandy (AL) Easley, brother-in-law, Dennis "Bruno" Paterson and his canine girl Otis. Along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents and sister: Kathy Gonda, father-in-law William Paterson; mother-in-law Doris Paterson sister-in-law Debra Fischer and brother-in-law Bill “Peterwheat “Paterson.
memorial visitation to celebrate Jay’s life will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a prayer service to be held at 12:30 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd., Joliet, IL. In accordance with Jay’s wishes, cremation has been accorded.
