John D. “Jammin’ Johnny” Fese, born January 13, 1949, of Joliet & Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents: Peter Fese & Bernie Evans (Cundiff), sister: Antoinette “Toni” King, step-daughter: Christine Nagel (O’Donohue), step-son: Timmy O’Donohue. He is survived by his sister: Victoria Lorenc (Fese), two daughters: Rhonda (Bill) Dowell and Shelley (Jeremy Green) Fese-Bishop. Grandchildren: John (Stacey) Dowell, Michael (Claudia) Dowell, Cindy (David) Cummins, and Jacob Roman. Along with one Great-Grand Daughter Avery “Little Bit” Cummins. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and those he adopted as family along the way.
Jammin’ Johnny was a well-known and loved Karaoke DJ in the Joliet area since the 1980’s. “Jammin’ the tunes to you.” Prior to that he was in several bands playing rock and blues in the area. He had a passion for music, playing pool, wrestling, and Harley’s. Those who knew John would remember him for his laugh, his stories, his humor & prankster personality; he never met a stranger and loved to talk to people. He always had a comeback or joke. He lived life to have fun, and always had a smile. His mission was to bring people happiness, good times, and good music.
The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a service beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet. A private interment will be held and John will be laid to rest at Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago.
