John W. Canaday, age 72, of Plainfield, formerly of Springfield, IL passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 with his loving family close by his side.
John leaves behind his beloved wife of 50 years, Wanda "Peach" Canaday (nee Wood); three loving daughters, Cindy (Jeff) Picha, Tonya (Darren) Farris and Jodi Canaday; five granddaughters, Jordan, Kyla, Jamie, Kelsie, and Katelyn; two brothers, Ronald (Lenora) Canaday and Richard (Mary) Canaday; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents, John and Martha (nee Yocum) Canaday; one son in infancy, John W. Canaday.
John was a Local 710 Teamster and retired from truck driving, his last employer was Yellow Freight. He loved working in the yard and walking. John's granddaughters were his pride and joy. He shared love throughout his entire family and will be dearly missed.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Joliet Area Community Hospice for their wonderful care.
In lieu of flowers donations in John's name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
A Celebration of John's life will begin on Friday, August 15, 2014 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 3-8 p.m. A prayer service will be held in the funeral home chapel during the visitation at 7:30 p.m. Celebrant Ken Plese officiating. Per John's wishes cremation rites will be accorded. Inurnment will be held privately at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet.
