Joel “Joelito” Martinez Jr., age 32, passed away suddenly on November 4, 2017 in his home.

Joelito is survived by his beloved wife, Stephanie Martinez; beloved children, Annabella, Lorenzo, Giovanni, Diego, Giselle and Sophia; parents, Joel Sr. and Gloria Martinez; siblings, Monica Martinez and Vanessa Martinez; nephew, Adrian; nieces, Isabel, Jazmin, Esmeralda and Celeste; paternal grandmother, Guadalupe Martinez; maternal grandmother, Belen Rosas; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceded in death by his dear paternal grandfather, Alejandro Martinez; maternal grandfather, Celso Martinez; and dear uncle, Miguel Rosas; paternal great-grandparents, Rosalio and Bracilia Rendon, Victoriano and Ricarda Martinez; maternal great-grandparents, Rosendo and Herculana Rosas; great-aunt Maricela; great-uncles, Rosendo Jr. and Manuel; cousins, Freddy and Froyland Rosas.

Joelito was a noble family man who cared and devoted his time to his family. He enjoyed music, family gatherings, family vacations and gaming.  Joel graduated from Joliet West High School and played soccer at a young age.  He loved swimming with his children and fishing. He was loved by his family and will be missed dearly. He leaves behind many wonderful times of joy and happiness.

A celebration of Joel’s life will begin on Saturday, November 11, 2017 with a prayer service in the funeral home chapel at 9:30 a.m. than driving in procession to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Cremation rites will be accorded following Mass. Interment will be held at a later date at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet, IL. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home (1211 Plainfield Road – Joliet, IL).
