Joan D. Kozar (nee Britz)

Age 93 of Joliet, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home.

Joan was born and raised in Joliet, graduated from St. Francis Academy and worked for many years at the College of St. Francis.

Joan is survived by her six loving children: Judith (William) Stickels, Kathleen (Edward, Jr.) Batis, Thomas (Linda) Kozar, Janet (Daniel) Prado, Robert Kozar and John (Suzy) Kozar; grandchildren: Jeffrey, Alex and Adam (Ashley) Stickels, Eric (Karyn), Steven (Laura) and Mark (Kathryn) Batis, and Mary (Andrew) Key, Bridgette Kozar and Matthew, Joseph and Sean Prado; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister: Carol Kozar, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law: John and Aldona Kozar. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband: Anton who passed away in 2008; daughter: Joanie Kozar; parents: Walter and Hilda; brothers: Walter and Robert Britz and two sisters in infancy: Beverly and Rita Marie.

The family wishes to give a special thank you to Julie Cleary, Jim Batis and the staffs at Sunny Hill and Lightways Hospice for the excellent care Joan received while in their care.

Per Joan’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

A private service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests masses or donations be made to Lightways Hospice or Friends of Sunny Hill.
