It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jesus Hernandez, a beloved son, father, grandfather, sibling, and friend. Jesus departed this world on Tuesday, October 17th, 2023, at the age of 53 in Chicago, Illinois, leaving a profound void in the lives of all who knew him.
Born to Edmundo and Rebeca Hernandez, Jesus was a man of immense heart and unwavering dedication. His life's journey began at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he embarked on his pursuit of knowledge. There, he embraced the spirit of learning and growth, sowing the seeds of the wisdom he would impart to those around him.
Following his education, Jesus honed his skills as a carpenter, obtaining a well-earned Apprenticeship in Carpentry from Washburne Trade School. He found his calling and passion in carpentry, dedicating himself to the craft for many years. From 1992 to 2001, he proudly served as a member of the Carpenters Union 272, leaving a legacy of hard work and dedication that will long be remembered.
In the tapestry of his life, Jesus encountered both joys and sorrows. He is preceded in death by his beloved son, Emmanuel "Manny" Hernandez, a loss that weighed heavily on his heart and the hearts of those who loved him.
Despite the trials he faced, Jesus's legacy lives on through the love and memories he leaves behind. He is survived by his parents, Edmundo and Rebeca, whose love and support shaped his character. Jesus leaves a lasting imprint through his children: Joshua (Marisol) and Brenda. He was a doting grandfather to Natalia, Emilia, Emmanuel, and Camila, his greatest treasures. He is also survived by his loving siblings: Laura, Edmundo Jr. (Blanca), Azucena (Isrrael), Gricelda (Ruben), and Guadalupe, all of whom shared in his journey and stood by his side through thick and thin.
Beyond his immediate family, Jesus leaves countless nieces, nephews, and an extensive network of cousins who were touched by his warmth and generosity. He brought people together, creating a bond that extended far beyond bloodlines.
Jesus Hernandez was a man of character, compassion, and unwavering determination. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, resilience, and love that will continue to inspire all who knew him. In our hearts and memories, he will forever remain a beacon of strength and an example of the importance of family bonds and enduring love.
