Jesus Castillo

Age 78, passed away on April 19, 2021.
Born on February 19, 1943 in Villa González Ortega, Zacatecas. Lover of horses and Mexican soccer, gardener, the best and hardest worker, but most importantly — an amazing husband, father, grandfather and man of much faith. Known by many as “Don Chuy”, always willing to lend a helping hand, even if it meant taking his own shirt off his back for others — friends or strangers. He was a man of many talents. He became owner of his own tortillería (tortilla factory and shop) and taco stand, where he became known as “El Birriero” because of his delicious birria tacos. He was part of the Laborers’ Union Local 288 and dedicated his life to concrete construction as part of Ketelaar Brothers Construction, where he worked until he retired at 55. He worked hard to build a loving, supportive home for his family in the United States and raised a beautiful family with his beloved wife of 60 years, Esperanza Castillo. They had 5 daughters, 19 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. Their home was never empty of “bulla” (Spanish for noise/commotion) and laughter. He will always be in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers.
He was preceded in death by his mother Victoria Gonzalez; his father Jesus Castillo, children Lourdes Castillo and twins; sisters Maria Guadalupe Frausto and Loreto Castillo; brothers Ramón, Salvador and Reynaldo Castillo. Survived by his wife Esperanza Castillo (Jechu), daughters Maria Sonia (Justino) Hernandez, Isa (Oswaldo) Esparza, Paty (Nin) Nieves, Claudia, Lupita (Gual); grandchildren Missy, Cristi, Nicolasa, Duvis, Ali, La Raque (Tita), Jesse, Andres, Gigi, Elotito, Thaelis, Tuti, La Mama, Chabelita, Nanni, Litcha, Morenasa, El Bon Bon, Juanito; Brothers Socorro Castillo, Cruzevelia Castillo, Maria Castillo, Manuel “Meño” Castillo, Irene Castillo, and numerous nephews and nieces.
