Jesse J. Fonseca
January 24, 1935 — October 31, 2017
Jesse J. Fonseca, age 82, of Crest Hill, IL, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, October 31, 2017.
Jesse was born in Joliet to the late Jose and Mary (nee Jaso) Fonseca on January 24, 1935. He went to school in Joliet where he met his wife of 62 years, JoAnn (nee Zola) and married her on May 21, 1955. He worked as a dedicated laborer for EJ & E Railroad for 30 years. In his youth, he was an avid bowler. Jesse was an active member of the Joliet Moose Lodge 300 and enjoyed trips to Four Winds Casino with friends. He enjoyed watching baseball, golf, and classic movies. Jesse loved spending time with his family, especially on holidays.
Jesse is survived by his wife, JoAnn (nee Zola) Fonseca; children, Perry (Peggy) Fonseca, Cathy (Eric) Bushong and Jim (Joanne) Fonseca; grandchildren, Adam (Kristen) Fonseca, Jessica Fonseca, Stephanie Bushong and Anna Bushong; sisters, Carmen Raumen and Josephine (late Anthony) Lopez; brothers, Joseph Fonseca and Stephen Fonseca; in-laws, Linda (late Richard) Fonseca, Gerald (late Katherine) Petersen, Kathy (late Charles) Zola; also several nieces and nephews also survive.
Jesse is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raul, Richard, Frederick, Rudolph Fonseca; and brothers-in-infancy, Raymond and Raul Fonseca.
Jesse was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed and loved forever.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jesse’s name to JourneyCare Foundation (2050 Claire Ct., Glenview, IL 60025) would be appreciated.
A celebration of Jesse’s life will begin on Friday, November 3, 2017 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 10:20 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Anne Catholic Church in Crest Hill, IL for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery in Crest Hill. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home (1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL 60435).
