Jerry Paul Fordyce

Jerry Paul Fordyce, age 70, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Presence Holy Family Medical Center.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Sue (nee Heilstedt) Fordyce; children, Lynn (Mike) Watson and Steve Fordyce; grandchildren, Haley and Bryan Watson, Emma Fordyce, Brennan Hoffman and Ryan Strunga; sister, Melody (Michael) Sizemore; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Thelma Fordyce and sister, Frieda Ford.

Jerry was born and raised in Southern Indiana and attended Greenville College earning a degree in education and business. After college, he moved to Hazel Crest, IL where he was a teacher for District 143. Jerry then turned a hobby into a career working for various landscaping companies. He retired from Allied Nursery doing what he loved. Jerry was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and a lifelong IU fan. He was completely committed and dedicated to his family and always demonstrated loyalty to his friends.  Jerry will be dearly missed.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will begin on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 with a visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home (1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL). Interment to follow at a later date at Martinsburg Cemetery in Martinsburg, IN.
