Jerome J. Mestdagh "Jerry," age 84, passed away surrounded by the love of his family at Loyola University Medical Center on Friday, January 3, 2014.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Virginia (nee Terlep) Mestdagh; children, Steven (Mia) Mestdagh, Laura (Mary Boyle) Scott and Craig (Tina) Fanning; six grandchildren; and one sister, Arlene (Ray) Miller.
Preceded in death by his wife, Bernadette (nee Kohlhepp) Mestdagh (1973); his parents, Jerome and Mary (nee Dolfen) Mestdagh; and one son, Bobby Mestdagh.
Jerry earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He was a proud United States Army veteran and was a member of the Hinsdale Engineering Retirement Group. Jerry was also an avid gardener and a member of the University of Illinois Master Gardener Program. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be truly missed.
Donations in Jerome's name to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be appreciated.
A celebration of Jerome's life will begin on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 with a visitation from 8:30 a.m. until prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:20 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd. Joliet.
