Jerome R. Danhauer

June 5, 1930 — February 17, 2015

Jerome R. "Jerry" Danhauer, age 84, entered eternal life on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 with his loving family by his side.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Patricia (nee Slazyk); loving children, Corinne Stachniak, Amy (Timothy) Wiess, and Thomas (Debby) Danhauer; cherished grandchildren, Andrew, Paige, and Alexander Stachniak, Timothy "T.J." and Jessica Wiess, Lauren and Christopher Danhauer; dear sister, Nancy (the late Robert) King; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Loretta (nee Sullivan) Danhauer; brother, Daniel (Lucille Schell)(Jeanne Newton) Danhauer; brother-in-law, Robert King.

Jerry worked as an electrician for 40 years and retired from Richard J. Daley Center in Chicago. He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant and was stationed in Alaska from 1951 to 1953. He was an avid gardener and handyman. Jerry belonged to the Carillon Lakes Veteran's Club and Photography Club. He was a former member of Divine Infant Jesus Church in Westchester, serving as an usher for several years. Jerry loved to travel, visiting states and countries around the world with his beloved wife. He adored his children and grandchildren. Jerry will be sincerely missed by his family and friends.

Donations may be made, in Jerry's name, to the Misericordia Home, 6300 North Ridge Avenue, Chicago, IL 60660.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff at Rosewood Nursing Home for all of the kindness and good care that they provided to Jerry.

A Celebration of Jerry's life will begin on Monday, February 23, 2015 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:30 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Crest Hill for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment at a LATER DATE at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood. Visitation will be Sunday, February 22, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL. Per Jerry's wishes cremation rites will be accorded.
