Jennifer Kathleen (Farkas) Demick born April 20, 1972 in Joliet Illinois to her loving parents, Paul and Janett (Funk) Farkas. They both welcomed her to her eternal home with them on August 10, 2017.
Jen was the youngest daughter and is survived by her sisters, Elizabeth Farkas Brooks of East Peoria, Il and Monika (Carl) Farkas Loewes of Des Plaines, IL. As a girl, Jen attended St. Mary Nativity School and graduated from Joliet Township Central High School in 1990. At Eastern Illinois University Jen earned her Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 1995. She started her career soon after as a 5th grade teacher at Walker's Grove Elementary School in Plainfield, IL during which time she also earned her Master Degree in Education in 2008 from National Louis University. Mrs.Demick devoted herself to her students and their educational acceleration for 18 years.
Jennifer married Mark Francis Demick on September 28, 2002. They welcomed the birth of their only son Erik Richard Demick on February 7, 2005. He instantly became the light of their world and love of her life. Jen's remarkable spirit will live on in him. Jen was proud to be the daughter-in-law of Richard and Mary Kay Demick and sister-in-law to Mary Lee (Bob) Strahanoski and Rich (Debby) Demick. Her father-in-law Rich preceded her in death.
Jen had an abundance of love and kindness for her friends, family and those she encountered. She was proud to be an aunt and Godmother. Her nieces and nephews Luke, Ryan and Cole Brooks, Paul and Olivia Loewes, Bobby and Grace Strahanoski, Gabrielle and Emily Demick and Godchildren Alex Rojo and Maddie Wietting were spoiled by her generosity and giving nature. She was known as Aunt Jen-Jen to many especially Gabrielle, Ben and Alaina Santillo, and Jacob and Mia Rojo.
Jennifer is survived by her maternal aunts, Etta Martis (Pekin, IL), Sophie (Jerry) Agatucci (Peoria, IL); as well as numerous aunts and uncles in Germany and Hungary.
She was also preceded in death by her Aunt Jeanette Radosevic Street. Jennifer was fortunate to have 49 first cousins living all over the world and considered her trips to Hungary and other parts of Europe as highlights of her life.
Jennifer's 20 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis should not be forgotten and she prayed that all efforts be made to eradicate this horrible disease.
The family of Jennifer would like to extend a special thank you to her in home caregivers as well as the nurses and staff at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to an education fund, for her son Erik Demick or Joliet Hospice Home would be appreciated.
A celebration of Jennifer's life will begin on Monday, August 14, 2017 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:15 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. A committal service will follow Mass at the St. Joseph Cemetery Chapel in Joliet. Per Jennifer's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Interment will be held at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery in Joliet. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
