Age 88, entered eternal life on Friday, September 27, 2013 with her loving family by her side.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Janice Yuvan and Carol (Michael) Yuvan Moore; grandsons, David M. and Steven A. Moore; and sisters-in-law, Cele Popek and Rosemary Fowler.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Andrew Yuvan; son, William A. Yuvan; brothers, Albert, William, and Frank Popek; and sisters-in-law, Margaret and Clara Popek.
Jean was born and raised in Joliet, attended St. Joseph Grade School and graduated from Joliet Central High School. In her younger days she worked as a carhop for her brothers at the Silverfross Drive-in, and later at the Navy Yard and Blatz Brewery. After marrying, she lived in Milwaukee, Houston, Kansas City and Detroit, but eventually returned to her home town. She later worked for Markelz Office Supplies and All Fiberglass Products and was a member of the Slovenian Union of America. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Jean drew family and friends together, and is fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Joliet Area Community Hospice.
A Celebration of Jean's life will begin on Saturday, October 5, 2013 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 10:30 a.m. then moving in procession for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Joliet. A visitation will be held Friday, October 4, 2013 from 4 – 8 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet.
