Jean M. (Stefanich) Wolz

Jean M. (nee Stefanich) Wolz, age 84, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2018, at Our Lady of Angels in the company of her family.

She was born on June 24, 1933, to Peter and Anna Stefanich. A lifelong Joliet resident, she was a graduate of St. Francis Academy, Class of 1951.  Jean was employed by Globe Aircraft Corp. and U.S. Steel as a secretary before marrying Robert J. Wolz on May 7, 1955 and raising a family.

Preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Robert J. Wolz (2013); parents, Peter and Anna (Sotlic) Stefanich; brothers and sisters, Mary, Ann, Elizabeth (Charles) DeJule, Matthew, Joseph (Marjorie), Lou (Lillian), Peter, Catherine (Stanley) Merzlock, and Edward (Mary) Stefanich.

Jean is survived by her loving children, Debora (Robert) Komp, Robert A. (Beth) Wolz and Susan (Steve) Vanisko; beloved grandchildren, Brian and Kara Komp, Matthew and Michael Wolz, and Eric and Lauren Vanisko; sister-in-law, Charlotte Stefanich; and furry companion, Dozzer; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Jean was the heart of her family.  She had great love for her children and grandchildren and was a woman of unwavering faith.  Her strength and kindness will be long remembered.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ellen Gustafson, Brian Dauber of Newsome Home Health, and the staff at Our Lady of Angels, especially Sr. Pat Mitchell, for their kindness and compassion.

A celebration of life for Jean M. Wolz will begin on Monday, January 15, 2018 with a memorial visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 416 North Chicago Street, Joliet, from 10:00 a.m. until the time for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

There will be no services held at the funeral home.
