Jean Hilda Parkes McKanna peacefully passed away January 4, 2022, at the age of 92. She was born February 15, 1929, in Bewdley, England. She married Bernard W. McKanna and immigrated to America in 1946 after the bombings of London during World War II. Her talents were many; she was an extremely accomplished seamstress, knitter, and devout animal lover. She had a beautiful British accent and she enjoyed watching English mysteries on PBS and eating cookies as well as sharing them with others. She was a beloved mother and grandmother and acquired many loving friends during her lifetime. She will be greatly missed.
Jean is preceded in death by her father, Frank Parkes and mother, Hilda Gould Parkes of Worcester, England.
Survived by her daughter, Lydia (Don) Granda; son, Kevin (Lisa) McKanna; grandchildren, Aaron (Andrea Frigo) Granda, Ash Granda, Kyle (Laura) McKanna, Kaitlyn McKanna and six great grandchildren.

A celebration of Jean's life will begin on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 with a memorial visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 7:45 p.m. to conclude visitation. Per Jean's wishes cremation rites have been accorded.
