Preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Eugene Zupancic (2019); and her parents, Edward and Bette Rogel.
Janet was a lifelong Joliet resident attending St. Joseph Grade School and Joliet Township High School. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of St. Francis and an Associated Degree from Joliet Junior College. She became a teacher after college and taught at St. Bernards Catholic Grade School in Joliet. She then went on to work for St. Joseph Hospital in the Advanced Lazer Center. Janet was an avid world traveler, she found great joy in seeing new places and meeting new people. She was involved in numerous social and travel organizations throughout the Joliet area. As an active member in so many groups, Janet made countless friendships that she cherished dearly. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She loved spending every moment she could with them and always had a craft ready for them when they came to visit. If they weren’t crafting, they were usually out shopping or going to see a play. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Janet’s name to Lightways Hospice would be appreciated.
A celebration of Janet’s life will be held privately. Per her wishes cremation rites will be accorded and she will be laid to rest with her husband at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
