Janet C. Liebermann

Janet C. Liebermann (nee Smrekar), age 60, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 11, 2024.

Janet is survived by her loving husband, Kurt A. Liebermann; son, Kurt E. Liebermann; daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Liebermann; grandchildren, Luke, Camryn, Cole and Brody; parents, Richard and Carol Smrekar; and sister, Deborah Smrekar.

Preceded in death by her sister, Karen Farr; brother-in-law, Louis B. Liebermann; and mother and father-in-law, Arthur and Jean Liebermann. 

Janet had a special gift for working with children, particularly those with disabilities. She was deeply passionate about helping others and dedicated much of her life to bringing joy, comfort, and opportunity to children in need. 

Janet also cherished the time spent with her family, especially traveling to and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. She loved nothing more than watching them excel and grow. She always looked forward to vacations in Fort Myers Beach, FL enjoying the sun and the company of those she loved most.

In her spare time, Janet found peace in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed reading, often losing herself in a good book, and she could frequently be found soaking up the sun by the pool, her favorite spot to unwind. Janet was also an avid bowler, enjoying time spent in the bowling alley. 

Janet’s life was one of generosity, love, and joy. She was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. 

A celebration of Janet’s life will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be held privately.
