James D. Skala, age 74, entered into eternal life on Thursday, September, 8, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.
James is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Barbara (nee Brown); loving children, James E., Timothy L., Raymond D. (Traci), and Craig (Shannon); cherished grandchildren, Nathan (Naomi), Lacy, Matthew, Brayden, Kayla, Kolby, Rebecca, Averi, and Lennox; brother, Dudley L. (Arlene) Skala; as well as numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Dudley L., Sr. and Sylvia (nee Seidl) Skala.
James was a longtime parishioner of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Crest Hill. He enjoyed antiquing and garage saling. He restored antique guns and swords as a hobby. More than anything, James was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
A Celebration of James’ life will begin on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 with a visitation from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL 60435, then driving in procession to St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Crest Hill for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. Interment to follow at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery in Crest Hill.
