James A. Murray Sr., age 68, entered into eternal life on Monday, July 18, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.
James is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Jeanne Marie Murray (nee Stocker); loving children, James Alwin (Wendy) Murray Jr. and Shawn Michael (Charlene) Murray; cherished grandchildren, Brianna Jean, Kimberly Marie, Jillian Rae, Dylan James, and Makayla Lynn Murray; dear brother, Thomas Allen (Nancy) Murray; dear aunt, Marie (the late Allen) Hall of Cottonwood, AZ; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Anna (nee Ambrus) Murray.
Jim worked for 32 years at Caterpillar Tractor in Joliet, IL. He was a three-time Purple Heart recipient who served actively and honorably in the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the American Legion Post #13 in Plainfield and Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Jim was a selfless, loving husband and father. Beyond all things, he was a magnificent Grandpa.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff who cared for Jim during his illness.
A Celebration of James’ life will begin on Friday, July 22, 2016 with prayers at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, then driving in procession to St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Plainfield for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment with full military honors to follow at Plainfield Township Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL 60435.
