James W. Kempes
January 23, 1941 — January 2, 2017
James W. Kempes, age 75, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
James is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Leslee Kempes; loving children, Michael, David, Brian, Matthew (Tonja), and Jamie Kempes, Annie (Kraig) Kirsner, and Chris (Heather) Dunlap; 8 cherished grandchildren, Nicholas, Luke, Jacob, and Kelsey Kempes, Mack and Calahan Kirsner, Tayler and Ryan Dunlap.
Preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Clara Kempes; and brother, Robert Kempes.
Jim was a long time member of the Moran A.C., Chaney Progressive Club, and Wilmington Recreation Club. He retired from Carpenter’s Union Local 1889 after over 40 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and golfing. He was a dog and a cat person, he and his family provided a home for numerous beloved pets throughout his lifetime. He will be greatly missed by his wife, family, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations in James’ name to Joliet Area Community Hospice or Will County Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.
