James E. Cletcher, age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 29, 2017.
James is survived by his daughters, Terri (Richard) Maly and Cindy (Michael) Maver; grandchildren, Michael (Renee) Maly, Steven, Kathryn and Lauren (Michael) Blatti; great-grandchildren, Trevor and Cody Maly; sister, Jean (Gene) Fox; brother, Kenneth (Jane) Cletcher; brothers- in-law, George (Helen), John (Lucy), and David (Ruby) Owen; sisters-in-law, Sue (the late Tommy) Cunningham, Judy Hatley, Shirley Mayberry and Margaret (the late Rod) Smith; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frances Nell Cletcher (nee Owen); parents, Chester and Mary (nee Tadlock) Cletcher; brothers, William Cletcher and Francis (Carol) Cletcher; sisters, Cassie (Lance) Schneider and Edna (Royal) Suggs.
James was a proud United States Army Veteran serving from 1952 until 1954 during the Korean War. He retired from Sheffield Steel Company after 37 years of dedicated service. James was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and metal detecting. He was a loving father, grandfather and brother who will be truly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations in James’ name to the Disabled American Veterans would be appreciated.
A celebration of James’ life will begin on Monday, October 2, 2017 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service to be held in the funeral home chapel at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
