James Amiot, age 77, of Joliet passed away suddenly March 17, 2013 at Presence Villa Franciscan. He was born November 19, 1935 to Della and Leon Amiot in Kankakee, Illinois. He was a graduate of Jacksonville School for the Deaf where he played football, baseball and basketball. After graduating from Jacksonville School he worked at KerrGlass company in Plainfield. He was later employed at Caterpillar Inc. and retired after 30 years of service. James enjoyed his bowling leagues and the deaf community.
He is survived by his brother William (late Dody) Amiot, sisters Sandy (Geno) Altiery and Collette (late George) Weikum; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
He is preceded in death by his parents Leon and Della (nee Collette) Amiot; 3 sisters Jackie Ziegle, Carol Tatro and Terry Chovan and one nephew Eric Weikum.

A Celebration of JamesA�?? life will begin on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. with prayers in the funeral home chapel, then moving in procession to The Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 21, 2013 with recitation of the rosary at 3:30 p.m. and visitation continuing from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at TezakA�??s Home to Celebrate Life.
