Irene T. Vercellino (nee Panich), age 89, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease on Friday, January 23, 2015.
Irene is survived by her loving children, John (Mary) Vercellino and Karen Aldworth; grandchildren, Katherine (Michael) White, Robert J. Vercellino, Alan (Amy) Aldworth and Dan Aldworth; great-granchildren, Abigail and Brianna Zochowski, Kate and Maddie Aldworth and Olivia White; siblings, Richard (Paulette) Panish and Rosemary (Joe) Yancik; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Vercellino (1989); dear friend, Edward Smolich (2011); parents, John and Mary (nee Burian) Panich; brothers, Edward (Loretta) Panich and Robert (Mary Lou) Panich; and sister in infancy, Bernice.
Irene enjoyed traveling, dancing, exercising and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a hairdresser for over 60 years serving numerous friends from her home beauty shop. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet. Irene was a Bob Doszak enthusiast and was a member of the St. Joseph Seniors and the Will County Seniors.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Angels Grace Hospice and the staff at Senior Star at Weber Place for the wonderful care provided to Irene.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Irene's name to the Alzheimer's Association or Angels Grace Hospice would be appreciated.
A celebration of Irene's life will begin on Saturday, January 31, 2015 with a visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville. There will be NO FUNERAL HOME VISITATION OR SERVICE.
