GONZALEZ, HOPE C. (nee TAMAYO)
Age 79, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013, with her loving family at her side.
Hope is survived by her loving children, Corinne Arzate, Errol (Kimberly) Arzate, Vanessa (Joseph) Mendez, and Francis Arzate; Her precious grandchildren, Amanda, Brandon, Lauren, Adam, Alex, Ashanti and Lexus; Two sisters, Anne Dolnak and Mary L. (the late Travis) Young; and 5 brothers, Jesse (Mary), Tony (Angie), Frank (Diane), Manuel (Sharon), and Joe (Kathy) Tamayo ; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren, family, and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Gilberto "Speedy" Gonzalez; two infant sons; parents, Jesus and Maria Luisa Tamayo (nee Rico); and two brothers, Henry and Fred Tamayo.
Hope was born September 14, 1934 in Ransom, IL. She later moved to Joliet where she was a lifelong resident. Hope was a hard-working stay-at-home Mom. She never missed a cleaning day. She was actively involved in Joliet Public Schools PTA when her children were in school. Hope was an excellent cook and was well-known for her home-made tacos, enchiladas, and tamales. She was a big Cubs fan and loved to entertain family and friends at back yard cookouts. Hope had a passion for rock-n-roll and always had music streaming through her home. She loved the Rolling Stones. Hope also loved animals, especially her two dogs, Yoda and Faith. Hope will be truly missed by all of those who loved and knew her.
A Celebration of Hope C. Gonzalez's life will begin on Monday, October 28, 2013 with a memorial visitation from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at Tezak Funeral Home 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, then moving in procession to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
