Helen A. Rial, age 90, formerly of Franklin, PA, died peacefully on January 30, 2014, in Flossmoor, IL.
Born in Franklin January 1, 1924, she was the daughter of Samuel L. and Alice Davison Miller. She graduated from Rocky Grove High School in 1941. She was married November 13, 1943 to James A. Rial, of Franklin, who preceded her in death on April 13, 2006. Helen and Jim raised their eight children in Rocky Grove, PA, Michigan City, IN and Park Forest, IL.
Helen was a devoted mother of eight, loving grandmother of thirteen, and adoring great-grandmother of eleven. She was Aunt Helen to many nieces and nephews. She was active in PTA and a CFM (Christian Family Movement) group. As a member of the Park Forest Women's Club, she took part in many volunteer Red Cross projects.
Surviving are children, James A. Rial and his wife, Rev. Anne of Lockport, IL, Kathy Rial of East Islip, NY, Carol Dworkin and her husband Jay, of Greenlawn, NY, Beth Mihalyov and her husband Paul, of Park Forest, IL, Steve Rial and his wife, Zen, of Palm City, FL, Marc Rial and his wife, Michelle of Serena, IL, Christine Paszko and her husband, Richard of Dyer, IN, and Mary Arndt and her husband, Eric of Mount Prospect, IL.
Also surviving are two sisters, Faye Whitling of Durham, NC and Margaret Behana of Perryopolis, PA; brother-in-law, Harry E. Rial of Franklin, PA.
In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by three brothers, Boyd F. Miller, James C. Miller and Donald L. Miller, a sister, Eleanor Miller Rockwell and grandson, Jeffrey Paszko.
The family suggests memorial donations in Helen's name be made to The American Red Cross, or to a charity of one's choice.
Interment will be at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Illinois, and a memorial service will be held there at a later date.
