Helen A. Petrella
March 14, 1924 — December 3, 2015
Helen A. Petrella (nee Zigrossi), age 91, entered into eternal life on Thursday, December 3, 2015.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Guido L. Petrella, her parents, John and Daisy (nee DeNardo) Zigrossi, her sister, Isabel A. Misak (nee Zigrossi) and her brothers, Pasquale and Raymond Zigrossi.
She is survived by her children, Vance (Margaret) of Maryland, Edward (Donna) of North Carolina, and Annette (David) Hagy of Virginia and by her brother, John (Marlene) Zigrossi. Helen is also survived by her eight grandchildren in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Guam, and British Columbia and ten great-grandchildren in Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina who knew her as "GiGi".
Helen was born in Joliet and resided in Virginia for 45 years before moving back to the area in 2001 with her husband. Throughout her lifetime Helen was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She did volunteer work for different school and church functions.
A Celebration of Helen's life will begin on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 with a visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of chapel service at 10:00 a.m. Resurrection Mausoleum in Romeoville. There will be no services held at the funeral home.
