Helen T. (Zelinka) Marusak
January 29, 1927 — September 29, 2016
Helen T. Marusak (nee Zelinka), age 89, passed away peacefully with her family by her side into the presence of Jesus on Thursday, September 29, 2016.
She loved the Lord and her family while she lived her life. She was born on January 29, 1927 to the late Elizabeth (nee Barnak) and John Zelinka. Helen grew up in Gary, IN, and worked in the Steel Mill. She moved to Joliet, IL when she married the love of her life, the late Thomas Marusak. They had five children which survive; Sue (Al) Singer, Kathie (Dan) Hone, Marilyn (Kurt, deceased) Gall, Tom (Laurie) Marusak, and Marie (Darren) Sackman.
Helen is also survived by her grandchildren; Adam (Melissa) and Erica Singer, Beth (Matt) Harper, Mike (Ambur), Dan (Megan), and John (Megan) Hone, Valarie (Pat) Carroll, Eric (Jen) Gall, Angela and Lauren Gall, Katie and Mark Marusak, Matt and Zach Sackman; and 22 great-grandchildren. They were a blessing to Helen!
Besides her parents and beloved husband, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Margaret and Mary; four brothers, John, George, Andrew, and Michael; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Thomas and Sophie Marusak; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Helen faithfully attended Gospel Life Church (formerly Calvary Baptist Church) until her health started to fail. She worked on Fridays at the Slovenian Home for their Fish Fry for many years.
We are thankful for Joliet Area Community Hospice for helping us take special care of Helen during her transition into Heaven.

A Celebration of Helen’s life will begin on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 with a visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL 60435, Reverend Steven Brady officiating. Interment to follow at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery in Joliet.
