Helen A. Lakota (nee Trizna), age 97, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2014.

Helen was born on November 12, 1917 in Joliet, IL to the late Joseph and Anna Trizna.

Adored by her four children, Lou (Mary Fran), Jerry (Marge), Barb (Mike) Ludwick, Karen (Paul) McDermott; sadly missed by 16 grandchildren, Lou (Kris) Lakota, Maureen (the late Bill) Krok, Mike Lakota, Tony (Jody) Lakota, Tim Lakota, Kris (Clark) Garland, Greg (Bobbi) Lakota, Bill (Lori) Lakota, Karole (Erik) Treese, Laurie (Edward) Gudas, Christopher (Tammy) Ludwick, Brian Ludwick, Daniel Ludwick, Will (Johanna) Thomas, Jim McDermott and Colleen McDermott; 23 precious great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Dorothy (the late Raymond) Trizna; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Waiting joyfully for her in heaven is her beloved husband, Louis J. Lakota (1984), parents, Joseph and Anna (nee Smego) Trizna; one daughter in infancy, Mary; brothers, Joseph (Cecilia) Trizna, Anton (Josephine) Trizna, Rudolph (Helen)(Rose) Trizna, Raymond Trizna; one granddaughter, Cheryl Thomas; and one great-granddaughter, Hannah Ludwick.

Helen enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and crafts. She supported her husband in his business at Lakota Jewelers for 35 years. Helen was a member of the choir, Altar and Rosary Society, Medical Mission, Joanites, and Mothers Club at St. Mary Nativity; as well as a member of the Seniors Club of Joliet, an Auxiliary at Northwest Recreation Club and an Auxiliary at Our Lady of Angels Nursing Home. Helen was also a female Deputy for Will County Sheriff's Department in the 1960's.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the Autumn Club Adult Day Care for the wonderful care provided to mom.

A celebration of Helen's life will begin on Monday, December 22, 2014 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:20 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL from 3-8 p.m.
