Hector Castillo of Joliet, aged 75, was abruptly taken too soon from this life on May 23, 2024. He was born the son of Vicente Castillo and Natalia Castillo (nee Esparza) in 1948 in Zacatecas, Mexico. He was the youngest in his family. He married Belen, and together they had three children and eleven grandchildren.
Hector was an extraordinary individual which words cannot capture. He loved very much and cared for his wife, family, and too many others to name. He always encouraged and supported higher education for his children and grandchildren. He was well-known for his helpful nature. He generously offered his time, strength, and extensive skills to assist anyone in need, whether they were friends or strangers. He regularly donated his time and expertise towards all necessary handyman duties for the Vilaseca Daycare Center, and he also dedicated his free time to working on any number of woodworking projects, crafting beautiful items from wood. From practical pieces like dressers and other furniture to whimsical children’s toys, every creation he made was a true work of art.
For his family and those who loved him, Hector’s loving spirit will live on in all of us. He is and forever will be present in our hearts and our lives.
Hector was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Belen Castillo, their son Hector (Ludivina) Castillo, their daughters Veronica (Julio) Reyes, Griselda (Victor) Castillo, granddaughters Natalia, Isabel, Samantha, Lucia, Ana Sofia, and Camila, and grandsons Isaac, Mateo, Andy, Leo, and Emilio.
