Harry J. Magolan, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 with his loving family by his side.
Harry is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy (nee Pillar) Magolan; sons, Larry (Debbie) Magolan and Tom (Dawn) Magolan; daughter, Janet (Dr. John) Gianino; grandchildren, Benjamin and Jessica Magolan, Katelyn and Elizabeth Gianino, Matthew, Rebecca, Nathaniel and Noah Magolan; siblings, Shirley (Robert) Williams and Robert (Thomasine) Magolan; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Josephine (nee Moholick) Magolan; sister, Dorothy Magolan; brother, Walter Jr. (Beverly) Magolan.
Harry graduated from Lockport Township High School and was a proud United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by Material Services Corporation for 44 years as a diesel mechanic. He was a parishioner of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Crest Hill. Harry was also a well-known pitcher for the Rivals Club fast pitch softball organization in late 1940’s. He was a diehard St. Louis Cardinal Fan and loved watching baseball. Harry also enjoyed traveling, golf and listening to music. He was happiest in St. Louis, on a golf course or in the Wisconsin Dells. Harry will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Harry’s name to St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Crest Hill or Masses to be said in Harry’s name would be appreciated.
A celebration of Harry’s life will begin on Saturday, December 31, 2016 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 10:30 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Crest Hill for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville. Visitation will be on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
