Harold E. Bessler, age 73, at rest on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 with his loving family by his side.

Harold is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Margaret (nee Gergacz); children, Brian (Mary Kay) Bessler and Scottie (Melanie) Bessler; grandchildren, Michaela and Margaret Bessler and Annabelle and Abigail Bessler; one sister; four brothers; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Agnes (nee Johannson) Bessler; and one brother.

Harold was raised in Lake George, MN and enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1964-1966. During his time in service, Harold was stationed in Germany. Harold obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Bemidji State University. He moved to Chicago to pursue his career with the Internal Revenue Service in 1967. Harold then met his beloved wife, Margaret, in Joliet while on business, marrying in 1969 at S.S. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. He was an avid weekly bowler for nearly 40 years at Town and Country Lanes in Joliet. Harold was also a dedicated coach for the Joliet Park District Organization, St. Raymond’s School and Holy Family School. After nearly 40 years of service, Harold’s retirement in 2002 from the IRS lead him to become Co-Owner of Moonstep Creative Staffing in Joliet with his son, Brian. Harold loved frequenting the Joliet area casinos where he took full advantage of his free vouchers, and enjoyed watching all sporting events. Most importantly, Harold enjoyed spending time with the light of his life, his grandchildren. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Harold’s life will begin on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 10:30 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Crest Hill for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Joliet. Visitation will be on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
