Guadalupe "Lupe" Ferreira

Guadalupe “Lupe” Marta Lopez Ferreira, age 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 with her loving family by her side.

Lupe is survived by her sons, Ben Ferreira Jr., Stewart Ferreira; daughter, Denise (Dave Ryan) Ferreira; grandson, Jason (Xochitl) Ferreira; twin great-granddaughters, Ayari and Quetzalli; sister,  Aurora (Mona) Gallegos; brothers,  Charles, Ernest, Paul, David and Ray; numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Preceded in death by her husband, Ben Ferreira Sr.; mother, Julia Moreno Lopez; father, Ramon Lopez; brothers, Henry, Jesse, George, Antonio Lopez; and sisters, Socorro, Catalina Lopez.

Lupe was an executive secretary and administrator at Joliet Junior College for 31 years where she took pride in mentoring countless students throughout the years. She was a volunteer at Silver Cross Hospital for over 30 years, at St. Joseph Hospital and the Will County Health Center as a Spanish speaking translator and greeter. She also selflessly volunteered at Daybreak Shelter and numerous other establishments. Lupe was a member of the Business Professional Women’s Club as well as other social organizations. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who will be truly missed.

Memorial contributions in Lupe’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Memorial Hospital or Boy’s Town would be appreciated.

A celebration of Lupe’s life will begin on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:15 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Joliet. Visitation will be on Monday, June 25, 2018 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
