Gloria R. Devea

Gloria R. Devea (nee Bennett), age 96, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2024.  She was born July 02, 1927 in Joliet to George and Rose Bennett.  She was a 1945 graduate of Joliet Central High School.  She married George Devea on April 13, 1947.  Gloria kept busy throughout her long life.  Before they left Huntly, Gloria and George owned a DX Gas Station.  After returning to Joliet, she worked as a bookkeeper at D’Amico’s 214.  After her bookkeeping career Gloria and George opened a Dog-n-Suds and numerous gas stations.  After retirement her grandchildren kept her young.

Gloria is survived by her children, Dennis (Jan) Devea, Daniel (the late Alice) Devea and Diane (the late Guy) Morgan; her grandchildren, Tony (Chrissy) Devea, Christopher (Alison) Devea and Laura Morgan; her great-grandchildren, Brianna (Tommy) McDonald, Anthony Devea and Colton Devea; her special niece, Gayann (Dan) Bennett-Brynes; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. 

Preceded in death by her husband George Devea; her parents George and Rose Bennett; her siblings, Geraldine Bennett, George (Gloria) Bennett, and Gerald Bennett; and her nephews, Gerald Linich (Judy), Gregory Bennett and Geoff Bennett.

A celebration of Gloria’s life will begin on Saturday, January 20, 2024 with a memorial visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. There will be a service in the funeral home chapel at the end of the visitation at 2:00 p.m. The family will have a private burial at a later date.
