Gladys M. O’Keefe, age 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 4, 2017.
Gladys is survived by her daughters, Kathleen (Theodore) Scitar and Erin (Robert) Boseo; grandchildren, Robert (Cassandra) Klancher, Amy, Rebecca, Michael and Luke; great-grandchildren, Braelyn and Jaxson Klancher; special cousin Leila Ryan.
Preceded in death by her husband, Harold F. O’Keefe; parents, Vincent and Mildred; sisters, Katy, Mary, Donna and Elsie.
Gladys was a lifelong resident of Joliet, IL. Her main roll was a stay-at-home mother; however, she also supported her husband every step of the way in their family owned business. Gladys later went on to work at Silver Cross Hospital for 15 years retiring in 1991. Gladys was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, Kathleen, Theodore, Robert, Cassandra, Braelyn and Jaxson. She was a devoted Catholic and enjoyed praying the rosary. She had a special bond with her sister Donna whom she lived with for years. Gladys was a dedicated Chicago Bears fan, avid reader, enjoyed word searches and watching General Hospital. Gladys was honored with a Senate Recognition Certificate from the State of Illinois on her 90th birthday from Senator Pat McGuire. She was truly loved by those who loved her and her admirers outside the family were many. She will be dearly missed by all.
A Celebration of Gladys’ life will begin with a visitation on Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Tezak Funeral Home (1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet) then driving in process to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville.
