Geraldine K. Kuhar (nee Scherer), age 72, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 25, 2014, with her loving family by her side.

Geri is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Retired Judge Ludwig J. Kuhar; loving children, Kimberly K. (Eric) Greenwald and Dr. Ludwig Chad (Claudette) Kuhar; cherished grandchildren, Megan and Kaitlyn Greenwald, Alex and Catheryn Kuhar; dear brother, Dr. Thomas (Tracy) Scherer of Huntington Beach, CA; as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, Julian and Dorothy (nee Schroeder) Scherer of Costa Mesa, CA.

Geri was a devoted wife who raised a loving family. She was a very sociable person, volunteering her time to the St. Raymond community and several philanthropy groups in the Joliet area. Geri was an avid reader and loved to travel with her family. She loved her Boxer dogs. She had a beautiful smile, a kind heart, and an infectious laugh. She never met a person who didn't adore her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Geri's name to Joliet Area Community Hospice.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you the staff at Joliet Area Community Hospice and Lakewood Nursing Home, as well as Dr. Keyur Chauhan for the exceptional care they provided.

A celebration of Geraldine's life will begin with a funeral service on Monday, September 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, Fr. Brad Baker officiating. Inurnment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd., Joliet, IL 60435.
