Gerald Joseph Fabian

Gerald Joseph Fabian, age 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 11, 2018 with his loving family by his side.

Gerald is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Rosemary (nee Mikuska) Fabian; children, Christine (David) Poirier and Mark (Sharon Majetic) Fabian; grandchildren, Sarah and Michael Poirier; sister, Barbara (Richard) See; numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary (nee Vanisko) Fabian; sister, Dorothy Bebej; father and mother-in-law, Andrew and Mary (nee Sefcik) Mikuska.

Gerald proudly served in the United States Army for 2 years. He was a parishioner of St. Jude Catholic Church in New Lenox. He retired from Expert Optics after many years of service as the Supervising Optician. Gerald was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he greatly enjoyed spending time with them and his family. He will be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerald’s name to the Parkinson’s Foundation or St. Jude Catholic Church in New Lenox would be appreciated.

The family invites relatives and friends to gather at St. Jude Catholic Church in New Lenox on Thursday, August 16, 2018 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Joliet where military honors will be rendered. Per Gerald’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no funeral home services.
