George T. Perros passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2015, after a long illness at the University of Chicago with his family by his side.
George was born and raised in the small town of Ottawa, Illinois. He grew up in the 1950's enjoying family picnics in the backyard orchards that his father planted. He spent his boyhood fishing and swimming in the Illinois River which ran along his backyard. George would fondly remember the home cooked Greek meals his mother and father would prepare for family and friends.
George attended Ottawa Township High School and Illinois State University. After college, George started his property tax career in Grundy County, soon earning all state and county designations to further his career. He was the Supervisor of Assessments in Warren County and Will County, Illinois for eight years. He worked for a Chicago firm (PAA) for over seventeen years, finally starting his own successful property tax consulting firm ten years ago with clients throughout the country. George was a past president of the Illinois County Assessment Officials Association.
George was married to Mary Beth (nee Brozman) for over thirty years settling in Frankfort, Illinois. George was a most proud and loving father to his son, Timothy. He enjoyed taking his family on road trips traveling throughout the country. George was an avid golfer, fortunate enough to play at some of the country's most beautiful courses. He was also a diehard New York Yankee and Green Bay Packer fan and was most pleased when he and Tim visited both Yankee Stadium and Lambau Field. George served on the Summit Hill School Board and was a past Treasurer for All Saints Greek Orthodox Church. He was also a big supporter of the Lincoln-Way North High School Music Department.
George is survived by his wife Mary Beth (nee Brozman) and his beloved son, Timothy. George is also survived by his brother, William (Barbara) Carey of Albuquerque, New Mexico and his in-laws, Cheryl Wynne, Thomas Brozman, David (Debbie) Brozman. He is also survived by many devoted nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Timothy and Mary (nee Vasilopoulos) Perros and father and mother-in-law, Paul and Lorraine Brozman, brother-in-law, Thomas Wynne and sister-in-law, Ann Brozman.
The family would like to thank the compassionate doctors and nurses at the University of Chicago Medical Center for their dedicated care and support. Funeral Services for George will begin on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 8:45 a.m. then driving in procession to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Joliet for a funeral service to be held at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday, April 20, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
