George J. Mavrin, age 84, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Joliet Area Community Hospice with his beloved family by his side.
George is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann (nee Bernadyn) Mavrin; son, Robert J. (Pamela) Mavrin; grandchildren, Nicholas, Joseph and Maria Mavrin; sister, Lillian (the late John) Szabo of South Carolina and sister-in-law, Lottie (the late Peter) Stefanich.
Preceded in death by his son, Michael J. Mavrin and parents, Frank and Jennie Mavrin.
George was a lifelong resident of Joliet, IL. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean War. George later went on to work for Commonwealth Edison. He dedicated over 35 years of his life, retiring in 1990 as Master Electrician. George was a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet. He was the Vice President of St. Joe’s Senior Organization. George was a devoted husband and father. He loved his grandchildren dearly and will be truly missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, having a mass said in George’s name would be greatly appreciated.
A celebration of George’s life will begin on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 with a visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church (416 N Chicago St. Joliet, IL) from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. There will be no service held at the funeral home.
