George M. Matuszewski

Age 79, entered eternal life on March 19, 2008, at Loyola University Medical Center surrounded by his family. Survived by his loving wife and best friend of 59 years, Beatrice (Wruk); beloved father of Gregory (Robin) Matuszewski of Shorewood and Lauren (Jack) Witkowski of Goose Lake; devoted grandfather of Allen and Brian Matuszewski. Also survived by a sister, Julia (late Andrew) Patrick; and three brothers, Edward (Lorraine), Michael (Rita), and Stanley (Jean) Matuszewski. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by his parents, Nikolaj and Rose (nee Zembicki) Matuszewski; sisters Mary (late Joseph) Luzbetak; Anna (late Stephen) Luzbetak; Catherine (late John) Stefanski, and Victoria (late Michael) Nosse; brothers Joseph (late Rose) Matuszewski; John (Lucia) Mateski; infant brother, Frank; an infant grandson; and numerous nephews. George retired in 1990 after 41 years of service from Viskase Company, formerly Union Carbide Corporation. Member of the Holy Cross Choir, Mariners Society and a diehard White Sox fan. He coached Little League boy"s baseball at St. Joe"s Park; enjoyed sports and golf. We, the family, appreciate all thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time.

From where services will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 9:30 AM to Holy Cross Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Monday from 3-8 PM.
