George T. Hohenwater, age 74, entered into eternal life on Monday, November 24, 2014.
George is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Mary Ann (nee Carroll); loving sons, George F. (Diane), Todd (Raeann), Robert (Chrissy), and Greg (Karen) Hohenwater; loving daughter, Sandra (Artie) DeMaso; cherished grandchildren, Brett and Scott, George, Lillian and Breanne, Mackenzie, Jack and Alaina, Chloe, Gwendolyn, Gianna, Tiana and Keith; cherished great-granddaughter, Kylie McHale; dear sister, Marilyn Bailey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by his loving son; Bret Hohenwater; his parents, George F. and Evelyn (nee Kinzler) Hohenwater.
George retired from Exxon Mobil after 27 years of employment. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the local VFW in Arizona. George was an avid Cubs, Blackhawks, Bears, and Notre Dame fan. A huge motorsports fan, George used to race stock cars as a hobby. As a young man George loved to play sports and even continued into his older years, winning the Senior Softball World Series. He also loved to fish. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
A Celebration of George's life will begin on Monday, December 1, 2014 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:20 a.m. then driving in procession to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. John Cemetery in Joliet.
