Genevieve Kastelec

Genevieve "Irene" Kastelec (nee Stariha) age 85, entered eternal life Monday, November 11, 2013 with her loving family by her side.

Irene is survived by her loving daughters, Deborah (Jerry) Wall and Denise (Tom) Mores; four grandchildren, Nicholas (Eva) and Ashley Mores, Danielle (Jeff) Corcoran, and Jeren (Randy) Szmergalski; eight great-grandchildren, Camryn, Berit, Grace, L.J., Emma, Justin, Riley, and Kaylee; and sister, Bernice (the late Leon) DeJulius; also survived by numerous, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Kastelec; parents, Anton and Mary (nee Muster) Stariha; and sister, Margaret (Joseph) Dusa.

Irene retired from Caterpillar in 1991, where she worked for over 30 years. She was a volunteer at Presence Saint Joseph Hospital in Joliet. Irene loved to travel, shop, read, and bowl. She loved spending time with her family, and taking the kids out for pizza, the show, and Toys "R" Us shopping sprees. She also enjoyed making the occasional trip to Las Vegas. Irene will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Irene's life will begin on Saturday, November 16, 2013 with a visitation to be held in the Vestibule at St. Jude Catholic Church in Joliet from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment to follow at Resurrection Mausoleum in Romeoville. There will be no services held at the funeral home.
