Gene Snyder, age 60, passed away at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home on Friday, October 17, 2014 with his loving wife by his side.
Gene is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Lynn (nee Uremovic) Snyder; three dear brothers, John (Josie) of Florida, Derral (Barb) of Joliet, and Terry (Debbie) of Joliet; special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Darrell and Marilyn Sloniker; a special cousin who is like a brother, Stan (Josie) Snyder; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Allen "Bud" and Kathryn (nee Stucke) Snyder; brother, Buddy Snyder; and sister-in-law, Kathy Snyder; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe and Rosemary Uremovic.
Gene graduated in 1972 from Joliet West High School. He worked for Waste Management (Rockdale) as a truck mechanic. He was a member of Local 179 Teamsters. Gene enjoyed golfing and yard work. He was a lifelong Yankee fan. Gene will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Joliet Area Community Hospice, especially Margie, for their wonderful care and compassion, also many thanks to Dr. Rajeev Mehta and Dr. Sarode Pundaleeka for their professional and dedicated care.

A Celebration of Gene's life will begin on Saturday, October 25, 2014 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 10:10 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL 60435.
