Gary A. Walsh

October 12, 1947 — December 3, 2015

Gary A. Walsh, age 68, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, December 3, 2015 with his loving family close by his side.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Rose H. Walsh; children, Kimberly (Daniel) Stafford and Brian (Natalia) Walsh; grandchildren, Amaya Stafford, Amy, Vinnie, Brianna and Ethan Walsh; great-grandson, Mason; dear sister, Kathleen (Thomas) Reidy; brother-in-law, Donald Brazeal; sister-in-law, Joanne Weber; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Eileen (nee Blattner) Walsh; sister, Karen Brazeal (2002); brother, John “Jack” (Lillian-2013) Walsh (2015); and nephew, Wayne A. Walsh (2007); niece, Babette “Babs” Weber; brother-in-law, Walter Weber (2006).

Gary was born and raised in Chicago and graduated from Joliet East High School. He retired from Commonwealth Edison after over 30 years of dedicated service. Gary enjoyed collecting Hot Wheels amongst other items, going to the casino and playing bingo. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff and doctors at Sun Health Dialysis Center and the ICU 3rd Floor Staff at St, Joseph Medical Center especially Nurses, Darhyl, Annie and Amanda.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary’s name to the American Kidney Fund or the American Diabetes Association would be appreciated.

A celebration of Gary’s life will begin on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:15 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 2-8 p.m.
