Frederick R. Fonseca

November 10, 1948 — March 9, 2015

Frederick “Fred” Richard Fonseca, age 66, peacefully left this world for the next, passing away in his home on March 9, 2015, due to complications following cancer. Fred is survived by his wife, Anne Marie Fonseca, his daughters: Meghan (Emily) Fonseca, Teal (Nate) Duncan, and Janelle Morton. Fred was a beloved brother and uncle and is survived by his two sisters and three brothers; Carmen, Josephine “Josie”, Jessie (Jo Ann), Stephen “Stevie”, and Joseph Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Jose “Joseph” and his mother Mary b. Jaso Fonseca, five brothers; Raul, Raymond, Raul A., Richard, and Rudy Fonseca.

Fred Fonseca was born and grew up in Joliet, Illinois. He is known for his gentle, loving, cheerful disposition which drew others near. His devotion to God, love of others and family, and his industry are woven through his life like threads in a tapestry. Mr. Fonseca was very active in sports and served as student council president in his younger years. He was the director of resident’s life at the University of Pittsburgh, and worked most of his adult life in the telecommunications industry. He lived all over the U.S. and developed meaningful relationships wherever he resided. Most recently Fred worked for the State of Utah as a Workforce Services counselor. His sense of humor and faith tempered his adversities.
