Fred Orlovich

Fred Orlovich "Fritz," age 90, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2014.

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Kathryn (nee Noverio) Orlovich; children, Fred (Karen) Orlovich; Charles (Patricia) Orlovich; grandchildren, Jason, Adam (Ashley) and Daniel Orlovich, Chad (Ashley), Jeremy (Heidi), and Josh (Kelsey) Orlovich; two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Hailey; one brother Steve (Lois) Orlovich; sisters-in-law, Millie (the late Joseph) and Lois Ann (the late Raymond) Orlovich; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; lifelong friends, Joan (the late Henry) Garavaglia, Russ Cress and Mark "Skinny" Hagler.

Preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Catherine (nee Divijak) Orlovich; a grandchild in infancy; two sisters, Annie and Rosie Orlovich; brothers, Eli (Anne), Raymond, Joseph, Sam (Louise), Mike "Meach" (Mary) Orlovich, and George Orlovich.

Fred was born and raised in Rockdale, IL and retired from U.S. Steel after 37 years of service. He was a proud United States Army Veteran receiving a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star due to his faithful and courageous service. Fred is the current president of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church where he has been a member for his entire life. Fritz was also a Freemason. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he would attend all of their sporting events. He will be truly missed.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to Joliet Area Community Hospice for the wonderful comfort and care provided to Fred.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Fred's name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.

The family invites relatives and friends to gather on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church for a Funeral Service to begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL from 2-7 p.m. There will be a Pomen Service held in the funeral home chapel during the visitation at 6:30 p.m.
