Age 86. At rest on Monday, September 17, 2007 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
Survived by his loving, devoted wife of 59 years, Mary (nee Konc), two daughters, Sharon (Hugh) Zimmerman of Channahon, IL. and Terri (Robert) Punke of Eureka, IL.; six grandchildren, Sarah and Michael Zimmerman and Cameron, Joshua, Griffin and Elise Punke; one sister Elizabeth (Raymond) Marso of Joliet, IL.; two sisters-in-law Mary (late Joe) Gasparac and Helen (late John) Gasparic. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents Simon and Catherine (nee Plese) Vancina; infant twin sister Francis, one sister Catherine (late George) Kozubek, four brothers, Steve, George, Victor, and Edward Vancina; and four half-brothers, Simon and Thomas Vancina, Joseph Gasparac and John Gasparic.
Frank was born in Crest Hill and resided with his family in Rockdale, IL. He was employed at the American Can Company and Joliet Wrought Washer. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in Germany. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1080, VFW, Cantigny Post and Dale AC.
The family would like to thank the Joliet Area Community Hospice for all their support and care in making his last days peaceful and calming.
A chapel service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September 21, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 20, 2007 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
