Frank J. Mandel

MANDEL, FRANK J., age 77, at rest Monday March 21, 2011 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

He is survived by his sisters Dolores (late Leo) Lange and Theresa (Clarence) Georgantas, and his brothers Robert (Ann) Mandel and James (Teresa Hurst) Mandel. ""Uncle Frank"" was a loving uncle to numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Frank was preceded in death by his beloved parents Frank C. and Julia A. Mandel, and two sisters Shirley (Robert) Lambert and Lillian (Richard) Moruzi.

He was born in Joliet and was a life-long resident. He attended St. Joseph Grade School, Joliet Catholic High School,then received a Bachelor"s degree from Lewis University and a Master"s degree from Northern Illinois University. Frank taught and was head coach at Valley View School District in Romeoville for 31 years. He enjoyed and loved his family. He took pride in their accomplishments and often attended many of their activities and athletic events. Frank played football and baseball in both high school and college. Always an avid sports fan, he had a special interest in following Joliet Catholic football. He loved gardening and sharing his labors with friends and family. He took special pride in his roses. He will be remembered for his generosity.

A Celebration of Frank"s Life will begin with prayers at the funeral home on Friday, March 25 at 9:30AM, then in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3 ""A�?? 8pm at:
