Francis B. Rachal

Francis B. Rachal, age 84, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 with his loving family by his side.

Francis is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Rachal; his loving children, Clark Anthony (Mary) Rachal, Deborah (Patrick) Bazzel; his adoring grandchildren, Dionne (Richard) Denton, Christopher (Robyn) Rachal, James (Chanthamany) Rachal, Shannon Rachal, Joseph Rachal, Melissa Ries; as well as many brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, fifteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jeffrey and Saraphine Rachal; his son, James Ricky Rachal; and grandsons Jason S. Suero and John R. Rachal.

Francis was born in Cloutierville, Louisiana.  He and his family migrated to Chicago in 1951, which is where he began to build his legacy. After working many hard days and nights, he and his wife started to acquire apartment buildings. In addition to working full time, Francis also ran a few taverns.  However, this did not satisfy his yearning for knowledge and education, so he enrolled himself into business school at Northwestern University and attained his degree in 1972.

In his spare time, Francis enjoyed hunting and fishing.  His love for adventure and the outdoors led to him building a swamp boat and obtaining his pilot license.  Francis spent the rest of his journey not only attending stock market classes, but also directing his own personal wealth.  He was a great provider for his family and loved them dearly.  His humor and wisdom will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Francis’ name made out to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America would be appreciated.

A celebration of Francis' on Saturday, February 17, 2018 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:15 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Jude Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Justice, IL. Visitation will be on Friday, February 16, 2018 at Tezak Funeral Home (1211 Plainfield Road - Joliet) from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
