Francis H. Kurtz
October 13, 1942 — March 23, 2016
Francis H. Kurtz, age 73, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 with his loving family by his side.
Francis is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia (nee Spillie); children, Alan Kurtz of Alpha, MI, Lynn Kurtz and Marla Kurtz; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Zachary Kurtz, Emily, Katy and Cody Kurtz; great-grandchildren, Colton, Hunter, Paisley and Abigail; sisters, Lucy Mainellis and Clair Posega; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helen Kurtz; and step-mother, Mary Kurtz.
Francis worked for the Local #150 International Union of Operating Engineers for 50 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and gardening. Francis also loved to visit his home away from home in Crystal Falls, MI where he enjoyed proudly walking his land and the simplicity of nature. He also enjoyed taking care of his special fury companions Stormy, Star and Sasha. Francis will be dearly missed.
A celebration of Francis’ life will begin on Friday, March 25, 2016 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A service will conclude the visitation in the funeral home chapel at 5:00 p.m. Celebrant Ken Plese officiating. Per Francis’ wishes cremation rites will be accorded following the service.
