Age 81, at rest on Monday, September 15, 2008 surrounded by his loving family.
Survived by his wife of 56 years, Virginia (nee Kmiecik) Knick; children, Mary (Alex) Samusevich, Michael (Laurie) Knick and Marge (Stu) Lucko; grandchildren, Dylan and Jakob Lucko, Amelia and Eleanor Knick; loving grand-dog, Calhoun; one sister, Gertrude (late William) Gallo; two brothers, Victor (Wanda) and Melvin (Virginia) Knick; special nieces and nephews, Ricky, Michael, Michelle, Gabriel, Jackie, Michele and Kelly; also survived by many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Mary (nee Nowak) Knick; one sister, Margaret (late Edwin) Michalak; two brothers, Raymond (Gertrude) and Emil (Betty) Knick.
Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII stationed in occupied Japan. Retired from Commonwealth Edison after 37 years of service and still enjoyed his weekly Coffee Klatch with his friends. Member of the American Legion Post 118, Commonwealth Edison. Florian loved gardening, wood-working, water colors, spending time with his family and traveling. He was a handyman around the house and always had time to help anyone who needed it. His favorite saying was, ""He who helps gets helped.""
In lieu of flowers donations to the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home or to St. Paul the Apostle Church in Florian's name would be appreciated.
From where services will be held on Friday, September 19, 2008 at 10:00 AM to St. Paul the Apostle Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Interment will be at
Abraham Lincoln National
Cemetery with Full Military Honors at 12:30 PM. Visitation will be on Thursday
from 4-8 PM.
